All that glitters is gold

Well last week was a very big week for me! It was my first time working in Gold and oh it was fun! Even better it was a commission to make a pair of wedding rings for some good friends of mine. And I have to say it feels pretty fantastic that I made the rings that they’ll exchange.

So here are some pictures of the process and the finished rings. They were made out of 14k yellow gold and if you’re after one or a pair they’re up and available on my etsy page

This is what I started with, a strip of 14k gold
It was then bent into a roughly ring shape and the piece sawed off

Small pieces of solder were placed along the joint and fire time!
Afterwards it doesn't look quite so pretty.

Several hours later it's cleaned up, and the texture applied so it's shiny shiny gold :)

And here's the matching his and her's set.
Of course they're bunny approved!

I’m sooo sooooo proud of theses earrings! You have no idea! I loooove them! These are hallmarked and ready to go. So tomorrow I have to make up another pair just for me to wear!

Also got my glass cutter out recently, it's been far too long! And more glass items shall be unveiled soon, here’s a few to whet your appetite.

And I have my howling wolf one of my favourite designs back in stock and hallmarked! Sending off more hallmarking Tuesday next week so if you want anything done and hallmarked just let me know!
Hope you’re all well

PS: Here’s some pics from the photo shoot yesterday and my nosey models. Apparently sticking your nose in my camera lens is the new best game ever! They had me rolling around laughing at them :)

Lots in the pipeline

I've been very quiet on here lately, not because I'm lazy, but because i have a lot of projects in the pipeline, all very exciting!

One has been getting ready for the launch last week, of this lovely new website Magpie Colours which are stocking quite a bit of my Jewellery. This is a new start up from two very lovely women based in England and is well worth a check out, give them a bit of time and they'll be mega!

I'm also working on some new designs and ideas and thankfully I haven't burnt the apt down yet....some close calls! More to follow as it develops, all a little hush hush now :)

And of course I have been adding to my collection of constellation jewellery with some more random constellations, and as always if you have a favorite you'd like to see let me know!

I'm back, with a new shop and all :)

Missed my girls while I was away and they
were angry at me for leaving! But I think we're
 back on good terms now!

Oh I had a lovely week off! I went back to Ireland for a family wedding (which was amazing) and got to meet up with lots of people both family and friends. I did miss my bench though! But hopped right back on when I got home on Tuesday, and it felt great! I have some lovely designs I’m waiting for a sunny day to photograph and show you guys, but given the crazy weather at the moment that could be a while!

I’ve also set up a brand new shop over on Art Fire, please check it out and let me know what you think and if you have heard good or bad things about the site, please pass them on!

And I just got a delivery so it’s too the bench I go!

And as such I am looking for quotes and phrases that you would like to see and wear :) embrace the inner nerd/child/sap and let me know any ideas you have.

And of course in Blue Peter fashion, here's some I made earlier; all up and available on my folksy and etsy shops

Busy busy Bunny

Well I've been a busy busy bunny the last few weeks, and there are lots of new listings up on both my etsy and folksy shop for you to check out and lots more coming. I'm sending off a bunch of hallmarking tomorrow just getting that together now, and it's my biggest batch yet! Woohoo!

And I have a crazy bunny jumping around on the carpet behind my chair as I type...very distracting! Life is good! I hope everyone else is doing as well!

So without further ado here are some of the new designs that have just arrived to my shop and or will be arriving soon :)

Inspired by a Guinea Pig named Nibbles that got me thinking about my Guinea Pigs when I was a kid, I had a girl and boy Delilah and Samson and they had two litters, Hugie Douie and Louie and then a second bunch eney meany miney and mo, unfortunately mo died :(

This week I learnt frogs are associated with fertility and life changes.

The Egyptians believed that seahorses carried the souls of the dead to the underworld
keeping them safe and protected along the way! Big ask for such small little creatures!

See Cats and Dogs can get along!

My models were not working today, they were on strike demanding more banana and broccoli.

Bunnies as Easter presents.

Well its almost Easter guy, and there’s bunnies everywhere! Or at least there is here! The two girls are in flying form lots of crazy little binkies and running around like lunatics! But since it is that time of year I wanted to say a little something about suitable Easter presents or more to the point the fact that real life bunnies ARE NOT suitable presents!

Now don’t get me wrong, I love my two little girls to bits, but wow are they a lot of work! I’ve spent hours cleaning up litter trays, cleaning out cages, sweeping up poo, stopping them chewing the lamp, making them toys so they stop chewing the carpet! Hours learning what they’re body language means, because unlike a dog bunnies can’t tell us if they are happy or sad with a bark or a whimper, you have to be able to read them. And they have not been cheap! Sure their food seems cheap, but include, hay, straw, litter and toys on top of that and then there is vet bills, each one needs £50 worth of shots every year so they don’t get nasty disease like Miximotosis, they need to be neutered, which cost us in excess of £100 EACH! And if you choose not to neuter you’re looking at extra damage to your house, and if more than one bunny more vet bills when they start fighting, I’m presuming here you didn’t get a girl and boy cause that of course is a whole different problem!

Having said this I would fight with everything I have if someone tried to take them away from me! They are wonderful company, great stress relief and can always make me smile even after the worst day. So I would of course recommend them as pets to most anyone, but wow you need to be prepared and as cute as a surprise bunny would be on Easter morning, they’ll look a whole lot less cute when they pee on your carpet and chew your sofa up, and as for the poor sods that end up in a hutch in the back garden, I think this video says it all!

I’m a fan on facebook twitter etc of a lot of rabbit groups/charities etc and I’m hearing the same thing again and again from them, that every year thousands of bunnies end up unwanted and abandoned by May. Lots don’t even make it to a rescue they just get released into the wild, you’re not freeing that bunny, your sentencing it to almost certain death, generations of selective breeding have made it so the average domestic bunny is very, very ill suited to the wild.

So if you are thinking of getting a bunny just wait a little and take on a rescue, if you get lucky they might have already gone through the worst of puberty! If you think that someone special would love a bunny then why not get them the cage etc with a voucher saying you’ll go to a rescue and pick one out together after Easter.

It doesn’t matter where you live, there are lots of rescues out there, some run by big charities like RSPCA some run by one hard working person just trying to help. Bibbles Bunny Sanctuary is an example of one person trying to make a difference, this woman has turned her house and garden into bunny playground and on top of that has put lots and lots of bunny information online for people to see, so if you do decide you want a bunny or you already have one this is a great website to check out information from, or maybe even adopt from?
